 Recruitment is a period of time at the beginning of every semester where organizations (fraternities, sororities, and co-ed fraternities) try to recruit members. If you choose to participate, there are no commitments or promises made on your end, so don't worry about feeling any kind of obligations. During this time, we hold a mix of events in order to give you a bigger picture of who we are, what we do, and what each sister within Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority is like. It is also a time where we have the chance to try to get to know YOU better. All events are free, so come out, be yourself, and have some fun! Do I have to be Asian to join? You do NOT have to be Asian. We are an Asian-interest, NOT Asian-exclusive organization. We have many different nationalities represented within Kappa Phi Lambda, and as a cultural sorority we welcome and encourage diversity. What is a bid? How do I get one? After the end of recruitment week, we give out bids, which is our invitation for you to enter the intake process. In order to be eligible for a bid, you must have attended at least two social events, the General Interest Meeting (GIM), and an interview. If you receive a bid, you have 24 hours to accept or decline the offer. What is the intake process? I heard it was really hard! Shortly after accepting your bid, you will start your journey towards sisterhood through the intake process. There are no specific guidelines as to how long it will be, or how hard, but the purpose of the intake process is to challenge you, and teach you more about yourself, your line sisters, and the sisters of this sorority. As with any organization on campus, the intake process requires your time and dedication. It gives you a sneak peek into the lifestyle of our sisters, and shows you what it means to truly be a Kappa. How do I know if a sorority is right for me? There is no one RIGHT reason to join a sorority. The best way to determine if a particular sorority is right for you is if you find that its values coincide with your own, you believe in its mission, and if you are interested in the types of events that the sorority organizes. Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority's three pillars are: sisterhood, service and cultural diversity. Our mission is to bring young women together who share these same values and who hold leadership and academic achievement in high regard.
